Travis’ parents own a few pieces of land on the famous YO Ranch, and they generously designated one of the houses to be shared between he and his sister. We have had this house at our disposal for many months now, but we had never been able to see it – until today.
The whole family drove down to Kerr County to hang out at the ranch: in addition to us 7 humans, we brought along 6 dogs and 2 cats. Good things there is a lot of space!
I didn’t really take pictures of the house – I just have one bellow of our living room. I also didn’t take pictures of the land. I figured that those would come with time!
As you can guess from the picture above the YO is a hunting ranch, with exotic animals and a large population of whitetail deer and feral hogs. We do plan on hunting out here, both to feed ourselves and to help with the population problem. The hogs are especially bad, as they are very destructive of to the delicate ecosystem of the Hill Country. We look forward to learning how to butcher our own meat, and to use the most out of what we harvest.
The ranch is where we are currently planning on spending most of our time, as to not impose ourselves too much on family and as to have our own space. I really look forward to discovering more about this place! It looks so different than where I grew up.
