Today marks our first day in our new apartment in Austin. Having our own space is very exiting! Travis’ family has been lovely and accommodating, but it was time to get our own place. I can finally start exploring the city, and Travis can start looking for work. This is the start of a new and exciting chapter in our new lives Texas!
Our move coincided with work being done on the balcony. At first they removed a few planks of wood, and once I saw what was left holding the rest, I was pretty worried. The thing looked very rotten! Thankfully the construction guys thought so too and they tore the whole thing down. We are getting a brand new deck – that will be so much nicer and safer. Shiso even supervised the work to make sure they were doing a good job.
Right now we have little furniture: we basically only have a blow-up mattress and a cooler. We have lots of shopping ahead of us, but we also don’t want to duplicate unnecessarily anything that we still have in storage back in Canada. Thankfully, the parents of our brother-in-law just bought a new house on the YO – the was fully furnished, but they didn’t like the furniture. In a few days, we will be getting a couch, a real bed, and a few other things I am sure! We feel so blessed for their generosity.
