Before we get started on today, here is a shot from the complex where we are staying. I should have totally included it in yesterday’s post – oops! Isn’t is quaint?
Today was our day for the big hike, up Mount Todd. Because the lifts at Sun Peaks aren’t pet friendly, it meant that we would have to hike from the base to the top, before being able to access any of the “pretty” trails.
We chose trail 15, then 4, and 3… and then we gave up. Shiso was not behaving too nicely on the leash and with mountain bikers all around, she was pretty nervous and unhappy. And having hiked almost to the top, we were pretty tired! While we had managed to take in some nice scenery and wild flowers, frankly this hike didn’t really do it for us in terms of satisfying our alpine hiking craving. Hiking under the lifts and in the open runs doesn’t feel very special – most likely our opinion would have been different and we hadn’t been hiking with our dog and been able to start right at the top. Regardless, it was worth the try!
We finished the day with a quiet evening at home, with a home-cooked meal and some hot tub relaxation time.
