New Year hike | Home

It’s New Year and Travis and I both have a day off together! There is snow everywhere, and so today we wanted to try a different hiking location where we could take Shiso off leash and let her play in the snow.

We headed to another local mountain where there seemed to be some trails, but as we got higher in elevation the snow levels increased and eventually, the road was covered in snow and it wasn’t safe to keep going. It looked like a trail was starting from where we had to stop though, so we decided to take our chances and explore it.

The weather was amazing – not too cold – and the snow was deep. Shiso ran around like the happiest puppy ever, shoulder deep in snow. We walked, played ball, got her to run up and down hills, but it wasn’t really the hike we were hoping for. It mostly felt like we were trespassing on someone’s land, and the rail eventually turned out to be a dead end. Still, we had tons of fun and got Shiso good and tired. And it was so pretty!

We’ll have to revisit this location in the spring or summer I think, when we can actually find the trails.
