Freshly picked | South Africa

red peppercorn

The streets around our guesthouse in Blugerg are lined with red peppercorn trees. I had no idea that pepper grew on trees until we arrived here – before I thought that they grew in bushes. It seems that peppercorn trees are pretty hardy, because a few around here had been cut down to the ground and have since grown back. I love the idea of having them around and being able to pick them fresh – I’ve now added them to my list of things to try to grow once we get our parcel of land.
