Travel Warning | Laos

To all fellow travelers coming into Laos from Vietnam, I thought I’d share a very important piece of information. Don’t bring Dongs into Laos!!! Because ATM are still few in between, we though we’d be safe and bring in extra cash. As it turns out, the exchange rate from Dongs to Kips is just horrible. The best rate we found was 0.30 – the actual rate (on ex.com) is 0.41. Usually it’s in the mids 0.20. I don’t know about you, but that makes a huge difference! Do yourself a favour and change your money into Kips in Vietnam, or at least into US dollars. At least they have that exchange rate right!

Note that the border also uses the same poor exchange rate, so it’s best to pay for your visa-on-arrival in Kip or US dollars.

Cheers 🙂

I’m not versed in “blog”ing ettiquette, so do I post a comment on the most recent blog or do I comment only on the relivant blog?

Anyway-this is about back when bed bugs were the topic. I read this week that a couple are suing the famed New York Waldorf Astoria becasue of bed bugs they took home to one of the Carolinas from there. This is the third mega buck law suite in the past year for the famous 5 star hotel. And just who decides how many stars a hotel gets?

Ginger, I’d comment on what is most relevant rather than the most recent. This way the info stays with the post, and I get to know more what topics where more interesting to people! It’s a really good question though 🙂

The buggers are everywhere, and it’s sad that there are no safe zones anymore! Hopefully they don’t plan on taking over the world!
