Exploring Ha Long Bay, day 3 | Vietnam

It was now time to say goodbye to Ha Long Bay. After breakfast we got onto a boat and headed back to Cat Ba island, where we boarded our junk for our final ride back. We were lucky and the sun came out from hiding behind the clouds.

Strangely the timing brought us back into the city of Ha Long before lunch, but we ate lunch and stayed on the boat for about 2 hours until our bus arrived to take us back to Hanoi.

Once in Hanoi we hung around town a while, waiting for the time to head to the train station. We would not spend the night in Hanoi: rather, we were to take a night train to Sapa. After a good bout of Hanoi traffic we made our way to the train station, where we boarded the Pumpkin, our “high class” sleeping wagon. The first sleeper train of our trip, we were seriously hoping for a good night sleep.
